Today the Dynamo will take on Real Salt Lake, after a postponed game last night due to lightening and thunderstorms that rolled through Houston. The Dynamo will play Real Salt Lake for the second time, where Real Salt Lake took a victory over the Dynamo 2-1 in Rio Tinto Stadium on April 23, 2016. The Dynamo will also be playing without Tyler Deric, their goalie, who is under suspension, due to a red card issued to him last week. The Dynamo’s #2 Jalil Anibaba also has two yellow cards behind today, so he is not starting today. Real Salt Lake also has a team member who has two yellow cards issued to him, it is #5 Kyle Beckerman, but he is starting the game for Real Salt Lake.
Hoping the weather holds up for the first half of the game, light clouds are hovering over the BBVA Compass Stadium. The first half has been an even game for both teams. They both have had penalty and corner kicks but no scoring from either side. In the 29th minute #31 Joe Willis caught a great save to still keep the score tied at 0-0. The Dynamo’s #14 Alex was issued a yellow card for a foul. In the 32nd minute a great save by #18 David Horst on their side to prevent Real Salt Lake to score. The score remained 0-0 at the end of the first half, neither team could score, though both teams had some close calls.
The second half Dynamo came out attacking the ball. In the 51st minute #8 Cristian Maidana came close to scoring a goal. They didn’t stop there in the 55th minute they tired scoring again from a corner kick attempt. Dynamo finally had success in the 65th minute when #10 Giles Barnes scored a goal. In the 66th minute was the first substitute for the Dynamo #33 Leonel Miranda coming in for #11 Andrew Wenger. Real Salt Lake substituted in the 73rd minute, bringing in #19 Luke Mulholland for #27 John Stertzer. In the 74th minute coming off for the Real Salt Lake #16 Chris Wingert and coming #70 Jordan Allen. Dynamo in the 76th minute sent in #27 Boniek Garcia and #9 Erick Torres came off. There was a yellow card issued in the 80th minute to Real Salt Lake, #2 Tony Beltran. In the 81st minute the last substitution for Real Salt Lake, #80 Olmes Garcia coming in for #7 Juan Manuel Martinez. In the 90th minute the Dynamo had their last substitution, #10 Giles Barnes comes off and #12 Will Bruin comes into the game.
The Dynamo have held on to win against the Real Salt Lake 1-0. The man of the match was #18 David Horst.
