The Skeeters play the Bridgeport Bluefish tonight. The last time they played Bridgeport their five-game winning streak ended in 3-1 loss against them. Hopefully they can get back into the swing of things and pull off a win for tonight. The Skeeters have right handed pitcher starting the game, #36 Sean Gallagher. The Bridgeport Bluefish have a left handed pitcher starting for them # 33 Mike Antonini. The Skeeters are 4-2 at Constellation Field and 0-0 at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard.
The good news with the Skeeters is that Jeff Dominguez is doing great for the 2016 season. He is hitting .436 with a HR and 8 RBI. He is 3rd in the league in hitting (.343) he is T-3rd in the league for RBI (11), T-4th in the league in HR (3) and 1st in the league in runs scored (15). Jeff currently holds a six-game hitting streak in the last 6 games, .409, (9-22) and RBI, 5 R.
The Skeeters started off slow, walking the first two Bluefish players, which allowed an RBI by #6 Luis Rodriguez.(double play). Then #26 Dan Johnson sacrificed fly hit to center field for an RBI to make it 3-0 at the end of the first inning. Then the Bridgeport Bluefish also scored in the second inning with #14 Rossmel Perez scoring when bases were loaded. The Skeeters did not score until the 2nd inning when #29 Jeremy Barfield hit a double play and #6 Patrick Palmeiro scored an RBI. The Bluefish threatened to score again when the bases were loaded in the fourth inning but #6 Luis Rodriguez hit a hard one towards 1st base and was caught by #24 Delwyn Young which ended the fourth inning.
The game was put on a rain delay at the bottom of the 6th inning just as the Skeeters were up to bat. The thunder and lightening came about 8:55 pm on Friday night. The rolled out the tarp to cover the field, and waited for about an hour to see if the weather would change. Unfortunately, the game was called off when the weather continued with thunderstorms and lightening. The final score at the bottom of the 6 was Bridgeport Bluefish 4 and Skeeters 1.
The Skeeters will be on the road to meet the York Revolution.
