SKEETERS VS ROAD WARRIORS

Today at Constellation Field in Sugar Land, the Skeeters are hosting the  Road Warriors.  It’s Sunday Funday with pregame catch on the field and player autographs, as well as post game Kids Run the Bases.  The Skeeters are ahead in the series coming into today’s game 2-0.  The Skeeters have the best home record in the Atlantic League at 29-9, with Lancaster having the second best home record in the league at 25-13.  The Sugar Land Skeeters clinched the first half championship, Freedom Division title with a victory over Lancaster, July 1, 2018. The Skeeters signed former Major League right handed pitcher, Jean Machi, 36 year old.  He spent the 2018 season with the Diablos Rojos del Mexico of the Mexican League.  His record 5-3 with a 5.20 ERA in 28 relief appearances.

The Skeeters started off the game slow, the Road Warriors scored first in the second inning, Skeeters  0 and Road Warriors 1.  In the bottom of the third inning Barrett Barnes got hit by the ball and stole second, but was left on base.  The Skeeters did not let one bad inning stop them, they came back the next inning with an RBI by Anthony Giansanati to start it off and then a triple base hit by #7 Alvaro Rondon to bring in Heathcott and Betancourt for the second RBI of the inning.  The score at the end of the 4th inning Skeeters 4 and Road Warriors 1.

The Skeeters have the bases loaded at the bottom of the 7th.  The Warriors walked #21 Anthony Giansanti and Barrett Barnes scored on the walk making the score, Skeeters 5 and the Road Warriors 1.   The Road Warriors scored with #Ermindo Escobar hit a homerun out toward left field.  The second score for them since the second inning.  The Skeeters scored two more runs at the bottom of the eighth inning, by Barrett Barnes and Javier Betancourt.

The Skeeters won another game against the Road Warriors. Skeeters 7 and Road Warriors 2.  The team will play again tomorrow at 7:05 pm.  Come and root for the Skeeters.
