The Houston Dash take down the F.C. Kansas City 3-2 Wow what a game

Today at BBVA Compass Stadium the Houston Dash host the FC Kansas City team. It is also sad to announce tonight is Niki Cross last night as a Dash defender, she will be retiring August 1, which unfortunately will be on the road when the Dash play Washington Spirit. The Dash had a draw the last time the teams met, the previous game the Dash lost to the FC Kansas City, so I’m sure the Dash are wanting a win tonight. We are one point behind FC Kansas City in the league standings.

The first goal was scored Kansas’ Lauren Holiday with two minutes into the game.  The Dash tried to score a goal was blocked by the goal keeper #18 Nicole Barnhart. Corner kick for the Kansas City failed in the sixth minute of the game. The Dash had a corner kick in the seventh minute of the game but failed. Seems like the Dash were on a rally the 10 minutes in Carli took shot but just missed the right side of the goal.  They stayed on Kansas side were they finally scored with #24 Ellie Brush makes a goal with assistance of Kealia Ohai in the 12th minute. Score is now 1-1. The goal keeper #1 Erin McLeod blocked a another goal.  The Dash took the ball down the other side  where #14 Jessica McDonald scored a goal for the Dash in the 16 minute of the game scores is now Dash 2 – 1 FC Kansas.

Game 25 minutes in and the FC Kansas get a corner shot brought in near the goal but the Dash deny them a goal by blocking and shooting the ball out to mid field. #30 saved a goal, which lead to another corner kick for the FC Kansas. Tonight is a very hot night with the heat high so there was a 3 minute break so the players could get hydrated. In the 39th minute #25 for the FC Kansas kicked but over shot the goal.  In the 44th minute #14 Jessica McDonald try to get another shot off but went over the goal. The officials added 3 minutes the first half of the game for the time of the break for hydration.

In the first half of the game the Dash had 2 goals, 6 shots, 3 on target, 3 off target, and 4 corner kicks. The FC Kansas City had 1, 7 shots, 3 on target, 4 off target, and 5 corner kicks. There was no cautions, ejections or substitutions in the first half.

Starting the second half  #19 Niki Cross is coming in for #6 Morgan Brian. In the 56 minute the Dash has two opportunities for corner kicks but unsuccessful.  Substitution for the FC Kansas City is #5 Liz Bogus for # 15 Erika Tymrak. In the 62 minutes the Dash substituted #21 Melissa Henderson with #9 Camila. There was another water brake in the 69 minute for hydration. So far in the 76 minute there has been no scores from either team, both teams are making attempts in making scores.  The goal keepers are both on the ball and saving and blocking kicks. FC Kansas City making another substitution #22 Sarah Hagen for #3 Becca Moros in the 78 minute. In the 83rd minute Sarah Hagen scored a goal for the FC Kansas City. Score now 2-2. In the 84 minute Carli Lloyd from mid field kicked the goal right above the goalie into to the corner of the net. What an awesome shot. This is Carli’s 7th goal since return from World Cup.  Substitution in the 86 minute for the Dash #7 Kealia Ohai comes out and # 12 Tiffany McCarty comes in. Score is now Dash 3, FC Kansas City 2.   In 90 minute another substitution for the FC Kansas City #25 Mandy Laddish comes out and #11 Frances Silva comes in.

There will be 4 minutes added to the 90th minute.  The final score was the Dash 3 and FC Kansas City 2.  Today’s attendance was 6,425. Houston had final total 15 shots, 6 shots on goals, 5 saves, 7 corner kicks. FC Kansas City had a final 20 shots, 7 shots on goals, 3 saves, 11 corner kicks.  Post game there was a special presentation for Niki Cross since this is her last home game with the Dash, here in Houston, Texas. She was given her #19 shirt in a special case.  Carli Lloyd was player of the game tonight.
