Today BBVA Compass Stadium hosts the Concacaf Gold Cup 2017, Costa Rica vs. Canada, starting at 6:30 pm. There should be a good crowd for the game providing weather holds up and have no delays.
Costa Rica came out attempting to score in the first minutes of the game. The teams are both being aggressive in the first half of the game, by this, it means the first team to make the mistake first will score first.
In the 25th minute, Canada’s #12 Alphonso Davies scored the first goal of the game to put Canada on the board first. Costa Rica has let their guard down enough to have Canada score first. In the 35th minute Costa Rica’s #5 Kenner Gutierrez was issued a Yellow Card. Costa Rica did not let it get them down, in the 41st minute Costa Rica’s #15 Francisco Calvo scored with a head butt from a corner kick to put the team on the board and tie the game. Costa Rica 1 and Canada 1 in the first half. The Canada’s goalie #18 Milan Borjan has made some important saves to keep Costa Rica from scoring in the first half of the game.
The excitement will be which team scores first to lead off the second half. As the second half begins, the Canada’s fans are upset, the referee has not seen Costa Rica wrapping their arms around the Canada’s player. The Canada’s player #12 Alphonso Davies had to leave the game because of an injury in the 65th minute, coming into the game for him was #2 Fraser Aird. The second half Canada has defended their goal very well, as Costa Rica has attempted several times to score, two thumbs up for the Canada’s goalie he is doing well in stopping the ball from getting into the net, otherwise Costa Rica would have several points on the board and in the lead.
The final score for the game was a draw, Costa Rica 1 and Canada 1. The Man of the Match was #15 Francisco Calvo of Costa Rica.
