The Skeeters take on the Somerset Patriots for the last night of the series. The Patriots start by getting started when #24 Thomas Neal hits a single to left field for a base hit. Robert Andino #13 popped out where Kelly Cross was able to catch for first out. David Vidal #8 hit where there was a double play, #24 Thomas Neal out at second and David Vidal at first, for Skeeters first double play. The Skeeters # 11 Willy Taveras hit but only to have a ground out at first. Unfortunately #17 Denny Almonte was unable to score he popped out for second out. Jeff Dominguez #14 hit but also was unable to score grounded out at first.
The start of the second inning right fielder #5 Kevin Russo dropped a popped up fly by #39 Michael Burgess to be safe on first. Matt Fields #16, hit a pop fly to right field that was caught by #5 Kevin Russo for first out. Kevino Russo caught another fly hit by #35 Mike Wilson for out number two. The Skeeters pitcher #27 Michael Nix has thrown three balls to #3 Nate Spears and two strikes to make it full count. Unfortunately, Nate Spears was walked by pitcher Michael Nix. The Skeeters pitcher Michael Nix was able to strike out #6 Jonny Tucker for last out. The Skeeters are trying to get on the scoreboard, patiently #24 Delwyn Young waited and was walked to get on base to start the Skeeters off. Johan Limonta #25 came up to bat and hit towards right field for a base hit and advance Young. Kevino Russo #5, also had a base hit and advance Limonta to second but Young was caught out at third for the first out. Patrick Palmeiro #6 ahead in count waited patiently and was walked to load the bases at the bottom of the 2nd inning. Reny Osuna #6 up to bat, #25 Limonta scored on a wild pitch from Patriots pitcher, #38 RJ Seidel. Kelly Cross #29, popped out towards right field for last out of the inning and two men were left on base.
The Skeeters were able to hold the Patriots scoreless for the top of the third inning. The Skeeters got on base by #11 Willy Taveras getting hit by pitch. Denny Almonte hit a pop fly for the first out for the Skeeters. Jeff Dominguez #14 struck out but not before Willy Taveras stole second base and was safe by a wild throw by Patriots catcher. An RBI for #24 Delwyn Young bringing Willy Taveras for a score. Johan Limonta flyed out for third out.
The Patriots #39 Michael Burgess grounded out for first out. Matt Fields second batter for Patriots hit a solo HR. Mike Wilson #35 for Patriots singled to get on base. Nate Spears #3 for Patriots struck out for second out. The next batter #6 Jonny Tucker managed to hit a single and advance #35 Mike Wilson to second. The Patriots have two men on bases and two outs with #4 James Skelton at bat and was walked to load the bases. The Patriots have #24 Thomas Neal coming to bat, but our Skeeters were able to have him ground out and leave bases loaded. The Skeeters #4 Renny Osuna was able to get a base hit. Renny was able to steal second and because of a wild throw reached third base in scoring position. RBI for #29 Kelly Cross and hit a double with two outs. Willy Taveras hit a fly to center field where the center fielder dropped the ball, scoring #29 Kelly Cross. Denny Almonte was struck out for third out of the bottom of the fourth inning.
The Patriots started with #13 Robert Andino hitting a base hit. The next batter #8 David Vidal hit but Skeeters were alert and ended up with a double play. The Skeeters pitcher #27 Michael Nix struck out #39 Michael Burgess of the Patriots to end top of the 5th inning. Jeff Dominguez for the Skeeters was walked on balls for the first man on base. Jeff Dominguez try to steal second and was caught for the first out. Delwyn Young popped out to centerfield for out number two and Johan Limonta grounded out at first to retire the side for the bottom of the 5th inning.
The were no scores by either team in the 6th inning.
The Skeeters changed pitchers top of the 7th inning #12 Robbie Weinhardt.
Pitcher Robbie Weinhardt came in and struck out all three batters for the Patriots to end their inning fast. The Patriots changed pitchers and brought in #32 Angel Reyes for the bottom of the 7th inning.
Bases loaded for the Skeeters, Cross on third in scoring position, Taveras on second, and Almonte on first and #14 Jeff Dominguez at the plate. Jeff Dominguez hit a Grand Slam with full count, to make the score 8 and Patriots 1 bottom of 7th inning. Limonta hit a single and Palmeiro hit a double to advance Limonta to third base in scoring position. Kelly Cross grounded out to end the inning for the Skeeters. The Skeeters changed pitchers for the top of the 8th inning to #38 Fernando Nieve.
